HISD on the HCAD Board of Directors

All property owners in Houston pay taxes based on the value of their property to fund state and local government entities. The Harris County Appraisal District’s (HCAD) role is to determine the full market value of each parcel of land in the county so it can be taxed accordingly. HCAD has a Board of Directors made up of 6 members, including one from Houston ISD, and meets monthly. The Board has several responsibilities, such as adopting HCAD’s budget, hiring the Chief Appraiser, appointing the Appraisal Review Board (ARB), and hiring the external financial auditors.
